About The World Opera

Opera embraces almost all kinds of Arts and involve all kinds of artistic people. Throughout its more than 400 years old history, the Art of Opera has been developed through experiments and turned into many different traditions through time and space around the world.

The mission of the World Opera foundation is to provide a worldwide platform for exploring tradition and innovation in opera as a diverse artform in multiple formats. The Foundation realizes this mission through exceptional productions, research projects and education programs and strives to engage an increasingly diverse international audience through its unique network of opera houses, opera academies, academic institutions, technology labs, individual artists and scholars.

In cooperation/partnership with its artistic, scientific and commercial partners, The World Opera plans to create a worldwide opera stage, a distributed opera stage, based on several pillars/locations in Europe and North America (so far Tromsø, Oslo, Stockholm, Struer, Milan, Belfast, New York, San Francisco, Montreal and Banff and more to come), to be ready for full performances in Summer 2011.
